The Red Thread

Ancient myth speaks of the red thread — the invisible line that connects each human being to their true destiny. Unprocessed, distressing experiences cause entanglement in the thread — the path narrows, the cycles begin, and one finds oneself trapped in the Labyrinth of the mind, held captive by the very same thread that was meant to carry them forward.

The thread is not merely symbolic. It is the living map of one's energetic field — held in the body, regulated through the nervous system. When repeatedly triggered — by life, by loss, by the weight of what has been carried without release — the nervous system accelerates and braces. What was meant to move through instead accumulates, and the field contracts under the pressure of what has never been allowed to land and leave. The knots form. The path narrows.

Tarot reveals the story present in the field.

The cards surface where the thread has been knotted or misaligned — reflecting the state of the psyche, the body, and the shadow that has not yet been brought to light. By addressing the blocks, the trace is followed. The knots begin to resolve. The thread restores. Life force flows, and one is brought back home — to the self, and thus to their destiny.

Why Tarot

Tarot is a story. Stories are medicine.

Unlike direct conversation, which can pull one deeper into the current of one's own pain, the cards create distance. Through the language of symbol and archetype, one is invited to look at one's own life as if from the outside — not drowning in it, but reading it as a story that belongs on a page. The distance creates an instant shift — an inbetween where a new story can begin.

This distance is not detachment. It is perspective. And perspective is where transformation takes place.

The 78 cards of tarot map the complete story of human experience — what is known as the Fool's Journey. Every trial, every transition, every death and every return. Carl Jung recognized in these images what he called archetypes — universal patterns that live in the collective unconscious of all human beings.

Tarot does not divide experience into good and bad. It holds all of it — the shadow and the light, the wound and the gift — as essential parts of one whole story. It heals not by fixing what is broken, but by unifying what has been fragmented.

The trees that don't bend eventually will break. Heaviness shall be met with lightness and grace, to be balanced out. Tarot invites one to meet even the deepest depths with a quality of curiosity like an expedition — grounded, present, and sometimes even playful. Because the Fool, after all, steps off the cliff not in despair but in wonder — and a childlike innocence that resides in the open heart.

The Practice

Tarot and the Thread is a one-to-one tarot reading and coaching practice that uses the cards as a psychological and archetypal mirror, drawing on Jungian psychology, mythology, and depth work.

This practice rejects superficial, predictive fortune-telling in favor of an analytical, therapeutic approach to archetypal systems — one that addresses the knot in the thread.

The readings are a sacred room where all that one hides is welcome to appear. What surfaces in the cards is translated into something tangible: clear, grounded, and true to the present moment. A thread that guides through the darkness of the maze.

A reading begins after it ends. What occurs — the recognition, the pattern, the thing one did not know one was carrying — needs somewhere to go. There are questions to sit with and practices to return to. Not a prescription, but a direction. The work will only go as far as one is willing to go. The insights serve as a breadcrumb trail to follow through practical exercises — leading from recognition to embodiment.

All-seeing eye

Afra

I am an intuitive tarot reader and coach.

What that means here is not what it means elsewhere.

I have stood at a crossroads without a map, navigated storms that could have stolen what was light in me, and walked through many fires that did not burn but purged and set me free.

The Underworld is not a concept but a place I have wandered long enough for it to become home — a sacred sanctuary, not a place of dread. I retrieved the treasures of the darkness that taught me how to read the cards. Not by the book. By living the trails and following the thread all the way to the other side.

I stand at the crossroads with you. The way through is inward. Follow the red thread.
